About Paul Zizka

Bio photo by Trixie Pacis.

Here’s your opportunity to learn not only from an educator but a trailblazer.

In the last 15 years, Paul Zizka has established himself as one of Canada’s leading landscape, adventure and astro photographers, as well as an artistic influence on the genre of outdoor portraiture. A Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society, he is also a sought-after photo educator, with sold-out workshops and speaking engagements, camera club talks, and virtual 1:1 sessions. His teaching style is accessible yet he continually motivates photographers to get out of their comfort zones and try new approaches. His exploratory spirit carries into his creative work and his worldwide adventures, which have taken him to all 7 continents.

Paul hasn’t forgotten the journey it has taken, both creatively and logistically, to get to where he is today. He first picked up a DSLR in 2007, and has since experimented with various styles and approaches — eventually landing on the cutting-edge image collection he is best known for today. He enjoys bringing students into his workflow but also encourages them to carve their own path so that they can create a style that is unique to them. He believes great photography hinges on the relationship between one’s technical know-how and artistic vision, and this is something he infuses into all of his teaching experiences, whether it’s a workshop, retreat or our Immersion Series.
